The market for erectile dysfunction drugs remains strong and Cialis last year brought Lilly $1.88 billion. That was 8% of the company's revenue, although about half what Lilly generates from its antidepressant Cymbalta, which it also marketed heavily in the first quarter. Cialis earned $207 million in the first quarter, drugs.com reports, up 3.2%. Its patent on Cialis is good in the U.S. until 2017, so Lilly has about 5 more years of promising revenue even as other of its drugs lose protection.
