Drug adherence gets a boost from gamification, new study says

Racking up points for filling prescriptions or taking home prizes for sticking with meds might sound like a far-flung concept. But according to a new study from HealthPrize Technologies, the technique actually works. HealthPrize surveyed individuals of different ages with conditions such as acne, hypertension and diabetes, and found that more than half of patients who participated in the company's gamification platforms continued to fill their prescriptions and stayed with the programs over time. "Patient engagement is really the Holy Grail in personal health, and we're making headway in making the patient experience more enjoyable.
