Thermo Fisher Scientific Expands Single-Use Bioreactor Product Line

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, announced today it has expanded its popular single-use bioreactor line with the addition of the Thermo Scientific HyClone 2000 L Single-Use Bioreactor (S.U.B.). The product line enables customers to seamlessly and confidently scale production to working volumes of 25 liters to 2000 liters and higher.

With hundreds of customer installations worldwide, the Thermo Scientific HyClone S.U.B. line is one of the most preferred and broadest ranges available for cell culture-based bioprocessing. These bioreactors have compatible single-use bioreactor bags, providing distinct advantages for customers:

  • Speed-to-market and rapid turn-around times
  • Lower initial capital costs and lifetime operating costs
  • Reduction in cross-contamination risks
  • Reliable, proven scalability to maximize productivity quickly and flexibly

"We have already produced a few different molecules in our 2000 L S.U.B.s, and we've enjoyed results that overlay nicely against our comparable stainless reactors," said Daniel P. Van Plew, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Industrial Operations and Product Supply, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. "Along with outstanding performance, the S.U.B. technology allowed us to move from engineering concept to production in six months."

Since its introduction, the Thermo Scientific Single-Use Bioreactor (S.U.B.) product line has become the leading single-use, stirred-tank system for cell culture-based bioprocessing, integrating well-characterized design criteria used in stainless steel systems into the most comprehensive single-use stirred tank bioreactor product line in the industry.
