August 26, 2010
Eight-part series to cover topics such as reimbursement and payment reform

The industry leader in revenue cycle management solutions and the leading membership organization for healthcare financial management leaders are collaborating to offer healthcare providers the guidance needed to thrive in the midst of health reform . Starting Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. Eastern, McKesson and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) will jointly offer an educational webinar series titled "Health Reform and Your Revenue Cycle." Richard Clarke, president and chief executive officer of HFMA, and Patrick Blake, executive vice president and group president, McKesson Technology Solutions, will kick off the eight-part series.

The series reflects the two organizations' commitment to driving excellence in financial management. Webinar topics range from reduced reimbursement to increased access to the call for improved quality. During each webinar event, participants will learn how to prepare personnel, reengineer revenue cycle processes, and implement technology solutions that can help them reinvent the business of care and improve how revenue is managed.

"The healthcare industry is facing a challenge like no other - the call to completely transform how care is delivered in this country," says Chad Mulvany, technical manager, Healthcare Financial Management Association. "Through these webinars, HFMA and McKesson are providing targeted education and sophisticated tools to help financial leaders address these challenges and make the most of reform."

The Sept. 16 webinar features an overview of health reform as well as perspectives on specific areas of reform. Each of the subsequent webinars will feature other industry luminaries and delve into one of six key reform elements affecting revenue management. The elements include reduced reimbursement, ICD-10-CM transition, compliance reform, quality improvement initiatives, payment reform, and coverage expansion. The eighth webinar will focus on the dollar value impact and how health systems can help to ensure they are on the positive side of the equation.

"With our revenue management solutions, we provide technology that will support the reinvention of financial practices as the industry moves toward delivering care under a new paradigm," says Loren Buysman, president, Revenue Cycle Solutions, McKesson Provider Technologies. "However, we recognize that technology is just one piece of the solution. HFMA and McKesson share a common goal of helping providers transform people and processes as well as technology."
