Chesapeake Urology Associates Welcomes Dr. Anup R. Shah

OWINGS MILLS, Md., Sept. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Sanford J. Siegel, president and CEO of Chesapeake Urology Associates, is pleased to announce that Dr. Anup R. Shah has joined the practice and will see patients at its Good Samaritan and Franklin Square offices.

Dr. Shah practices general urology and specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant adult urologic conditions with a focus on minimally invasive treatments for benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and kidney stones.  He also focuses on vasectomy procedures, robotic surgery for prostate cancer, treatment for kidney cancer including laparoscopic surgery, and treatment of erectile dysfunction and male urinary incontinence.

Dr. Shah received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University where he graduated summa cum laude.  He earned his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, and then completed both his general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA, where he was the chief resident in urology. 

In addition to his medical training, Dr. Shah has conducted research on the development of novel medical devices for the minimally invasive treatment of small renal masses and kidney stones.  The technology currently is being evaluated through clinical trials and is in the process of being commercialized.  In addition, he also is the co-inventor of a U.S.-patented technology for a non-invasive ultrasound-based device for kidney stone treatment.  A clinical trial currently is underway to assess the safety and efficacy of this device.
