BREATHE LA's Fourth COPD Conference on November 14, 2012

Living Well with COPD

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On November 14th (COPD World Awareness Day), BREATHE LA will host its fourth conference on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) held at the USC Heath Sciences Campus Aresty Auditorium in Los Angeles. Policy experts will address live and online audiences as well as present interactive exhibits.

The Conference will feature presentations on new approaches to address the disease, promoting early diagnosis, treatment, and self-management. A focus of the conference is to improve patient treatment by emphasizing evidenced-based wellness approaches through a continuum of care.

A conference highlight will come when BREATHE LA releases the first research report on COPD prevalence in California, and specifically in Los Angeles County. The data will help COPD advocates in efforts to seek more resources toward treatment and research, as well as to increase outreach to better educate COPD patients about ways to improve their quality of life.

The BREATHE LA COPD Conference will draw 150-200 attendees including top civic, health and industry leaders as well as COPD patients. The conference will be broadcast online to BREATHE LA's COPD partners in the public and private health sectors. Exhibitors will engage participants with the latest approaches to COPD wellness and active lifestyles. The conference will feature breakout sessions with experts to facilitate dialogue and define our strategic calls to action.

Conference participants will also learn about BREATHE LA's COPD English and Spanish community workshops targeting low income populations with high COPD incidence rates.  BREATHE LA also operates a Better Breathers Club™ program for people suffering from COPD, providing self-management techniques and other valuable information.
