Bayer Shawnee Upgrades Tablet Manufacturing Capabilities

On June 12th of 2010, Bayer HealthCare Product Supply staff at the Shawnee, KS site began commissioning of a new IMA Kilian Synthesis 500 Tablet Press. This tablet production equipment allows the site significantly enhanced tablet compression flexibility. The new system has an exchangeable turret assembly which will allow Bayer Shawnee to utilize one tablet press to accommodate both small and large size tablet production.

Benefits of the new addition are a more streamlined process and increased throughput of products through the Solid Dose area of the manufacturing site. The end result is better efficiency and cost benefit to Bayer for its products as well as for external customers for which Bayer provides quality pharmaceutical contract manufacturing services.
