Announcement of Contract Awarded: CMS Awards RelayHealth Medicare Part D Transaction Facilitator Contract

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announces that after competitive bidding, the contract for Medicare Part D Transaction Facilitator services has been awarded to the incumbent, RelayHealth Pharmacy Solutions.

Medicare Part D Transaction Facilitator services allow CMS to:

1) Ensure accurate information is available to the Part D plans for proper calculation of how much a patient has paid toward the Medicare Part D program. The services provided by RelayHealth are key to ensuring that Medicare is effectively administrating prescription drug benefits.

2) Automate the transfer of patient balances from one Part D plan to another when beneficiaries change plans within the coverage year.

3) Provide pharmacies real-time access to beneficiaries’ insurance information for claim filing of prescription drug claims.

RelayHealth’s extensive intelligent pharmacy network enables comprehensive connectivity among the pharmacies and Part D plans for real-time execution of transaction services.

The contract was re-awarded to RelayHealth after a competitive rebidding process. RelayHealth was able to best meet the qualifications and requirements of the Request for Proposals, and provides continuity in the program.

“RelayHealth is pleased to continue our long relationship with CMS,” said Jeff Felton, President, RelayHealth Pharmacy Solutions. “We’re proud to offer continuity in the Medicare Part D Transaction Facilitator program, and to support the program’s mission and goals.”

The contract will run through March 31, 2012, followed with nine, one-year options for renewal totaling 10 years.
