Vertex has its drugmaking fingers in many pies and is pushing awareness campaigns for three diseases this September with one unifying theme: light.
Sharing details on its Instagram account, the biopharma is lighting up its main corporate building with burgundy, blue and green stripes to boost awareness for three conditions: sickle cell disease, pain and muscular dystrophy.
Each color represents the official color of each condition: burgundy for sickle cell, blue for pain and green for muscular dystrophy.
All three have their own awareness months this September, among others including Prostate Cancer Awareness, Blood Cancer Awareness and Alzheimer’s Awareness.
“At Vertex, we’re committed to raising awareness and understanding to help improve the lives of people with serious diseases,” the company wrote on its Instagram account.
“This week, our Boston headquarters will be lit up in red, green and blue in honor of #SickleCellAwarenessMonth, #MuscularDystrophyAwarenessMonth and #PainAwarenessMonth. We proudly stand alongside the community of patients, caregivers and health care providers in the fight against these diseases.”
Vertex is either working on or has marketed meds for all three conditions. In pain, the company recently saw the FDA accept a rolling new drug application for its NaV1.8 inhibitor VX-548 in moderate to severe acute pain.
It also has early research in muscular dystrophy and markets sickle cell therapy Casgevy.
