Audio is becoming an increasingly important area of focus in pharma marketing, and now four big drugmakers have become sponsors for a new podcast focusing in on Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
Eli Lilly, Biogen, Eisai and Genentech, all which work on and market AD treatments and diagnostics, have signed up to BrightFocus Foundation’s “Let’s Talk Alzheimer’s,” according to a June 11 release.
The new podcast will hear from scientists and doctors discussing new innovations in Alzheimer’s and dementia research “in plain language for families and caregivers,” the Foundation said in the release. The host is Nancy Keach, senior vice president at BrightFocus Foundation.
The series’ first three episodes—released this week—specifically home in on new medicines for the condition and who can use the drugs. This includes Biogen and Eisai’s AD med Leqembi and Lilly’s Kisunla.
The series also talks about issues relating to diagnosis, such as how to recognize early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s, as well as how to improve brain health.
The release did not say how the companies were sponsoring or share financial details of the Alzheimer’s program.
The idea of the podcast comes out of BrightFocus’ “Zoom In on Dementia & Alzheimer’s” series.
“Families affected by Alzheimer’s disease are seeking clear, trustworthy information they can easily access and understand,” Stacy Pagos Haller, president and CEO of BrightFocus Foundation, said in a statement.
“By adapting our popular, live Zoom In conversations to the podcast format, we’re making these important expert insights available to even more people wherever and whenever they choose to listen,” she added.
Podcasts are becoming a more mainstream marketing tool for pharma, with a number of companies launching their own audio series or sponsoring ones that have a direct connection to diseases they work on.
