The Deerfield life sciences agency has bolstered its comms and marketing team with two new senior hires.
Guy Varady comes on board as executive vice president of integrated marketing while Bob Josefsberg becomes EVP of communications. These appointments “will play a critical role in driving the company’s Agency of Record, life sciences, and product communications expertise,” Deerfield said in a statement.
Varady was most recently senior vice president and management supervisor for healthcare ad agency DDB Health, having also spent time at life science agency giants IPG Health and Omnicom Health Group.
“Guy’s appointment will prove instrumental in nurturing our growing Agency of Record teams,” said Dominic Viola, president of integrated marketing at Deerfield Group. “His experience leading fully integrated marketing campaigns for pharmaceutical brands advances our teams' ability to further amplify key messages for our clients and position them for long-term success.”
Josefsberg, meanwhile, joins from being VP of corporate comms at biotech Karuna Therapeutics, which Big Pharma Bristol Myers Squibb recently bought out.
“Bob's robust experience in disease education and product communications will enhance and elevate our growing communications offerings, allowing us to better serve our biotech and life sciences clients as they mature into later-stage development and commercialization,” added Amanda Sellers, president of global communications at Deerfield.
It’s been a busy year for the agency, which back in June snapped up healthcare marketing and advertising firm Embedded to further extend its offer to life science companies.
These latest appointments also extend its hiring spree in 2024, coming off the back of nabbing “growth-oriented” Eric Steckelman to lead its business development and marketing activities back in March, followed later that month with the hiring of Bill Veltre to direct the agency’s paid media services.
