Russia shuts fake Viagra online operation

Viagra spam e-mail traffic has waned following Russia's shutdown of a key website, spamlt.com. The site sold fakes of Pfizer's erectile dysfunction drug that had been manufactured India.

Police seized hard drives and laptops as well counterfeit drugs from the home of Igor Gussev, whom they believe to be the ringleader. They also issued a warrant for his arrest.

The Gussev site was in league with other spam organizations that promoted sale of the knockoffs, reports HealthExpress.  Police estimate the bogus outfit made about $1.6 million.
