The Evolution of Community Outreach and Engagement at National Cancer Institute‐Designated Cancer Centers

This CA: Cancer Journal for Clinicians Review Article, with contributions from Patients as Partners Advisor, Co-chair and Patient Advocate, Barry Nelson, highlights the evolution of community outreach and engagement within National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers, to tackle disparities in cancer outcomes by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation and gender identity and geography. 

Mr Nelson provides a critical patient perspective in this work, which also focuses on efforts to integrate community outreach and engagement efforts throughout the research and operational aspects of the cancer centers.
