Wyeth disputes discrimination claims

Some time back, Wyeth's Pearl River, NY, facility spawned seven discrimination lawsuits. Current and former employees alleged that the company discriminated against them because they're black. Now, one of those cases is in court, so we're getting a peek not only at the plaintiff's allegations, but perhaps a taste of the six other pending cases, too.

Howard Henry, a former chemist and production engineer at the facility, claims that Wyeth wouldn't promote him because of his race. Wyeth counsel, on the other hand, say Henry wasn't a spectacular performer and that the promotion decisions had nothing to do with race. A jury of five men and three women, one of whom is black, will decide whom to believe.
