Pharma for Obama, but neither candidate loves pharma

While drug companies have donated about $450,000 to the Obama campaign, they've only given McCain a little over $132,000.  Interestingly, this is the opposite of what we saw in the Bush-Kerry election, where the republican candidate received almost twice as much as the democrat.

For their parts, both candidates strongly support generics, including getting them to market faster and promoting their inclusion in trade agreements with developing countries. McCain and Obama both also support government negotiation of medications included in Medicare plans, re-importation and price controls - which neither big pharma nor biotech companies are likely to appreciate.
