Garnier hired to restructure French firm
What's GlaxoSmithKline's ex-CEO Jean-Pierre Garnier up to these days? Well, in addition to director and advisory roles he holds at United Technologies, Renault, and the sovereign fund Dubai Capital, Garnier is expected to "return to his French roots" as chief executive of the health and beauty company Pierre Fabre.
As you know, Garnier retired from GSK in May, leaving new CEO Andrew Witty in charge. His mandate at Fabre, the Financial Times reports, will be the restructuring of the company, which is located in southwest France. Garnier has plenty of experience at overhauls: He engineered a big one, with thousands of layoffs, just before turning over GSK's reins to Witty.
