Diabetes drugs linked to fracture risk

One more strike against diabetes drugs. Australia's regulators are warning that the class of drugs including Avandia and Actos may boost the risk of bone fractures in older women.

A four-year study of 4,360 patients showed that post-menopausal women taking one of the thiazolidinediones were more likely to break a bone. The Therapeutic Goods Administration won't withdraw the drugs, but manufacturers are warning doctors about the newly identified risks.
