Amneal Pharmaceuticals quadruples manufacturing

Generic drugmaker Amneal Pharmaceuticals is getting a $3 million boost from New York to help with its $50 million manufacturing project on Long Island. The company is expanding its facility there from 121,000 square feet to 443,000 square feet, according to the Long Island Business News. The project will add about 400 jobs over the next 5 years. With jobs hard to come by, communities have been prepared to pony up for pharmaceutical expansions around the U.S. Abbott ($ABT) recently got money from several different entities to help with its $270 million plant in Ohio, which will employ about 240 people to make its Ensure and Glucerna nutritional shakes.
