Miles White - Abbott Laboratories
Total Compensation: $24 million

Details: White, a mainstay on this list, actually saw his compensation drop last year, from $25.6 million in 2010 to $24 million. His base salary remained relatively constant, but his stock and option awards dropped from $10.9 million and $2.73 million two years ago to $9.76 million and $1.84 million last year, respectively.

All this comes as Abbott ($ABT) plans to alter its business model, looking to spin off pharma operations into the newly minted AbbVie later this year and keep branded generics, devices and diagnostics under the Abbott label. The company kicked off 2012 by cutting 700 jobs in North America and has reported growth in sales and earnings in Q1.
