Ceva Sante Animale
2013 Revenue: $963 million
HQ: Libourne, France

Ceva Sante Animale, or Ceva Animal Health, was founded in 1999, when the former Sanofi-Aventis subsidiary completed the first of three leveraged buyouts. Based out of Libourne, France, the global company exhibited an average growth rate of 8.4% each year during its first 10 years. In 2013 sales were up 6%. CEO Marc Prikazsky described last year as "difficult" in an annual report, but 2013 had several highlights for the animal health giant. Most notably, Ceva acquired France-based Sogeval, a company of 300 employees that Ceva hopes will improve its role in the companion animal market. Also among its 2013 achievements are the signing of three new partnerships with Chinese companies and the registration of two major products: Vectra 3D, a pest protectant for dogs, and Cevac IBird, an avian vaccine. But despite these wins for the company, Prikazsky said in last year's annual report that "2014 will probably not be an easy year." -- James Levin (email | Twitter)
