Vétoquinol S.A.
2013 Revenue: $413 million
HQ: Lure Cedex, France

France's Vétoquinol S.A., based in Lure Cedex, came in as the 10th largest animal health company with total revenues of just $413 million--up 0.5% from 2012. But CEO Matthieu Frechin is optimistic about Vétoquinol's future following its acquisition of Bioniche Life Sciences' animal health business in April. So far, results are mixed: In the first quarter of this year, sales of companion animal products registered organic growth of 5.8%, while sales of livestock products were down by 5.7%. Although the company has expanded its presence to 24 countries, its operations are strongest in Europe, which accounted for 57.5% of its total sales last year. Vétoquinol was listed on the Euronext Paris stock market in 2006 as VETO. -- Justin Heifetz (email | Twitter
