Exports to U.S. to power Indian drugmaker growth

The market for Indian drugmakers is looking good. Growth this year could reach 20% as exports to the U.S. are driving sales, a report from India Ratings says. "Of the export markets, Indian pharma will focus on the U.S. market which presents significant opportunities for the next two years for generics, due to patent cliffs and recent changes in healthcare policies." The report comes even as API makers in India have been asking the government to look at ways of providing some financial help so they can better compete with APIs made in China. They complain that China is eating their lunch in that market because of incentives the government kicks in for API makers there. Story | More
