Flowonix Medical reached a clinical milestone as its Prometra implantable intrathecal drug pump achieved over 6 years' longevity, the longest service life recorded in such a device, according to the company. Flowonix CEO Steve Adler said, "This six-year milestone is particularly gratifying, coming after the recent U.S. market approval of the Prometra pump." The pump is projected to have a longevity of over 10 years, and as many as 13 years at lower rate settings. Intrathecal pumps are used to deliver drugs to sufferers of chronic pain, a condition the World Health Organization deems a global epidemic. Release
