Aetna (NYSE: ) today announced the expert panel of judges for its , which runs through Aug. 17. Launched June 5, the Challenge is focused on developing apps that best help consumers remember to take their medications. The winning apps will be integrated into Aetna’s CarePass platform, which offers simple, integrated access to some of the best health and wellness apps in the marketplace.
The judges for the CarePass Medication Reminder Developer Challenge are:

The judges will evaluate submissions based on the features of each app, the use of the CarePass APIs, innovation and creativity, and the management team capabilities of each entry. The challenge offers a $75,000 first prize and $25,000 second prize. The winners will be announced by Aetna Chairman, CEO and President Mark T. Bertolini, during his keynote address at the in San Francisco on Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. PT.
The CarePass platform enables consumers to share information across apps and create a personalized, coherent experience to manage their whole health, from getting care to staying well, all with one sign-on. CarePass offers a developer portal that includes API management, documentation and support, and various communication channels. APIs currently include multiple reformatted data sets from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services alongside de-identified Aetna pharmacy data, as well as retail drug price data from GoodRx. Submissions for the CarePass Medication Reminder Developer Challenge are due Aug. 17, 2012. Winners of the Challenge will own the app, intellectual property and the right to commercialize the solution. Developers can learn more and register for the challenge .
