Ruder Finn Names Healthcare Digital Strategy Director to Enhance Multichannel Products and Services

NEW YORK, May 28, 2015 -- Ruder Finn, Inc., a leading independent global communications agency, today announced that John McInerney will assume a new role as Director, Healthcare Digital Strategy. McInerney is transitioning from the agency's full-service digital unit, RFI Studios, to RF Healthcare to oversee digital strategy across its industry-leading health and wellness portfolio.

In his new role, McInerney will build on RF Healthcare's rapidly growing health and wellness portfolio by further integrating paid, earned and shared digital and social program extensions for existing and new clients. His new role comes on the heels of the expansion of Ruder Finn's Healthcare Earned Media offering, which welcomed new appointees -- HC Media Director Mary Conway, SVP Alice Sofield and VP Jenn Gordon -- in late April.

"Our global healthcare practice has been rapidly growing and transforming to stay ahead of our evolving industry and client needs," said Susan Goldstein, Global Healthcare Chair, Ruder Finn Group. "In this newly-created role, John will harness our organization's deep insights and expertise across multiple client sectors to build products and amplify storytelling platforms for all our clients. Our digital healthcare domains are rapidly evolving as our portfolio expands into new areas such as telehealth, gaming and wearable devices."

Emerging healthcare technology platforms and tools are becoming increasingly important to both patients and physicians, strengthening patient engagement and improving clinical outcomes. As the healthcare and technology sectors continue to converge, digital communications will play an even greater role in deepening connections in a rapidly evolving industry. "John has worked extensively in the emerging tech space and his digital foresight will strengthen our innovative health and wellness programming," saidKathy Bloomgarden, CEO of Ruder Finn. "Ruder Finn is focused on fully leveraging the explosive growth of tech across sectors – including healthcare – as companies are looking transform their industries by harnessing the power and impact of technology."

A communications veteran, McInerney has more than 15 years of experience in healthcare, consumer and digital/social spaces. In the pharmaceutical industry, he has worked with clients such as Novartis, Sanofi, Schering Plough, Roche and Endo on a range of pharma and OTC brands, as well as medical devices. In his most recent role as SVP of Consumer Marketing at RFI Studios, he spent the last five years managing digital and social relationships with clients such as The Home Depot, Showtime Sports, SodaStream, Mountain Dew and Caribou Coffee.
