Sproxil's running with Fast Company

An upstart tech company that has made foiling drug counterfeiters the heart of its business plan has caught the attention of the entrepreneurial class. The Cambridge, MA, company has been named No. 7 on the Fast Company magazine list of "World's 50 Most Innovative Companies." Sproxil points out that it ranked higher than Google, Amazon and Apple. It leads the publication's list of most innovative healthcare companies. As FierceBiotechIT has reported, companies like Merck ($MRK) and GlaxoSmithKline ($GSK) are using Sproxil's products so consumers can text message codes from the labels of their prescriptions to verify the authenticity of the drugs. It is now using IBM's ($IBM) cloud computing and visualization software so its clients can view and analyze consumer data to spot counterfeit drug activity in developing countries in places like Africa.
