India pressures Merck and GSK on vaccine prices

Getting costs down on vaccines is always a big deal to countries like India, and so the government there is putting pressure on GlaxoSmithKline ($GSK) and Merck ($MRK) to give it a break on the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines, according to The New Indian Express. India is trying to get the manufacturers to sell Cervarix and Gardasil for the same price the GAVI Alliance pays for the vaccine: $4.50 a dose. That compares with more than $100 a dose that some developed countries can pay. Article
