Wood and plastic pallets face the same perils with the same fixes

Wooden pallets have taken a beating lately, thanks to musty-odor recalls. But whether they're made of wood or plastic, pooled, recycled pallets face contamination throughout their supply chain trek. But both can be cleaned, so that's a "wash." And a wooden pallet can be wrapped in plastic. That may prove more cost effective than inserting the pricier plastic platforms into the chain where they will still require cleaning and either continue to go missing or run up tracking costs.
