Sterilization specialist on expansion streak

Sterigenics International, which counts vaccine and API sterilization among its irradiation services, is expanding. Earlier this month the Deerfield, IL-based company said it had acquired Sao Paulo-based Companhia Brasileira de Esterilização (CBE), the largest specialist in sterilization and microbial load reduction in Latin America. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Now it is investing $10 million to add a new gamma cell to its plant in Gurnee, IL. The company said the irradiator will be ready for validation in October and for production shortly after. Sterigenics is among the companies owned by Warburg Pincus and GTCR.
