CARLSBAD, Calif. and BEIJINGSept. 19, 2012 -- Life Technologies Corporation  (NASDAQ: LIFE), a world-leading biotechnology company, today announced the completion of a state-of-the-art facility in Beijing where the most advanced DNA testing solutions will be manufactured and readily available to help forensics labs and law enforcement agencies solve crimes more cost effectively in China.

DNA testing kits manufactured in China such as Life Technologies' newly released GlobalFiler™, will offer forensics labs rapid access to the world's leading human identification (HID) technology.

"China continues to be a key growth market for Life Technologies as we continue to expand our operations and product offerings across the country," said Gregory T. Lucier, Chairman and CEO of Life Technologies.  "According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, biotech is a strategic and emerging industry for China and our investment in this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is another example of our on-going commitment to support our Chinese forensic partners in new and expanded ways."

Life Technologies has been instrumental in supporting efforts in China to create one of the largest DNA database in the world.  More than 400 crime labs in the country have implemented database programs with a combined offender sample pool of 15 million.  Under the guidance of the Ministry of Public Security, China has secured its place as a world leader in utilizing DNA testing as a primary tool to fight crime.
