Cambridge keeps its biotechs running despite eastern Mass. water main break

Lucky biotechs in Cambridge, MA, with its own water supply, continued operations following a water main break in nearby Weston over the weekend. The break forced the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority to issue a boil order, affecting some two million residents in eastern Massachusetts. Cambridge manages three reservoirs, and Biogen Idec, Vertex and Millennium reported business as usual. Genzyme, with operations still constrained at its troubled Allston facility, reportedly increased its microbiological testing of incoming city water. Article
