BioOutsource, a provider of contract testing services, has opened a new facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts to offer bioanalytical and biosafety services.

The office is located at the Cambridge Innovation Center that is located on Kendall Square.

BioOutsource CEO Gerry MacKay said the new office, which is the first one in the US, is opened in response to rolling demand for bioanalytical services across the North American market.

"Our U.S. office will facilitate engagement with North American customers for our off-the-shelf biosimilar biological characterization assays, for example for Humira, Enbrel, Rituxan, Herceptin, Remicade, and Avastin," MacKay added.

Core offerings of the company include a range of services to support the testing of biologics, vaccines and biosimilars throughout their development.

BioOutsource bioanalytical division sales and business development director Verna McErlane said, "Cambridge is, of course, part of greater Boston, which is now the number one cluster for early-stage biotechnology, and a growing center of operations for some of the world's leading pharmaceutical firms, as well."
