Abbott delays pink slips due to product demand

More than 150 workers are now looking forward to an additional 12 to 18 months of employment at an Abbott Labs plant that makes the nutritional formula Ensure and Similac baby formula. Increased demand for the products buys the workers their extended employment. The Brockville Abbott Nutrition plant in Canada was slated to close in September 2012. There is, alas, no prospect of the plant remaining open should demand remain high. Abbott is sticking to its plan--just stretching the timeline. Story
