Henry Schein Partners with International Veterinary Students Association to Donate Equipment to Typhoon-Damaged Veterinary School in the Philippines

MELVILLE, N.Y., Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world's largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Veterinary Students Association (IVSA) to donate microscopes and other veterinary products and equipment to a veterinary school in the Philippines that was damaged by a typhoon in November 2013.

The College of Veterinary Medicine Central Mindanao University, which provides critical support to farmers in the surrounding area, has yet to fully rebuild. The donation is an initiative of Henry Schein Cares, the Company's global corporate social responsibility program. The IVSA will facilitate the donation's delivery to the school as part of its mission to improve the standard of veterinary education internationally through the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and culture.

"The rigors of a veterinary education are challenging under the best of circumstances, to say nothing of the obstacles these students have faced in the wake of this terrible storm," said Peter McCarthy, President, Henry Schein Global Animal Health Group. "Through this donation, Henry Schein demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that the next generation of veterinarians has the tools and resources it needs to gain the expertise to protect animal health around the world."

"The storm's devastating impact has only served to strengthen the resolve of these incredible students," said Anil Turer, President, IVSA. "As an organization run by veterinary students, the IVSA understands the importance of proper facilities and equipment to a veterinary education and we are proud to join with Henry Schein to help this dedicated group of future practitioners."

Henry Schein's animal health business has operations or affiliates in 23 countries, including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, China, Malaysia and 17 countries in Europe. In 2014, Henry Schein's Global Animal Health business had sales of approximately $2.9 billion.
