SPOTLIGHT: FDA outsourcing jobs
The FDA may outsource some 300 jobs to private companies, including administrative jobs in some 20 cities; the National Treasury Employees Union, which represents half of the agency's workers, opposes the plan, citing the string of contaminated products that have found their way into the country recently. Originally the agency was considering outsourcing some lab techs and field office workers at safety inspection sites, too, but it reconsidered. Report
