Sanofi, BMS prevail in Plavix-generic fight
Sanofi-Aventis and Bristol-Myers Squibb have scored two Plavix victories. An antitrust lawsuit filed by Kroger Co. and other pharmacy operators has been thrown out by a federal judge in Cincinnati in the decade-long battle to keep generic copies of the blockbuster blood thinner off the U.S. market. And the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Friday issued a notice that it plans to uphold claims in the patent for Plavix, reversing the office's prior, tentative rejection of the claims during a re-examination.
