Authorities in Shanghai emphasized that the H7N9 virus is responsive to Tamiflu and, if the condition is treated quickly, can be cured, according to Reuters. In a news conference health official Wu Fan said, "We currently have enough reserves of Tamiflu to meet the current outbreak." The World Health Organization said that early tests indicate the virus also responds to the GlaxoSmithKline ($GSK) drug Relenza. The FDA is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to work with vaccine makers "to expedite development and availability of any potentially effective vaccines," a spokeswoman said.
