Merck's Gardasil taken up by 37% of teen girls
A CDC study shows that, nationwide, 37 percent of teen girls received the human papilloma virus vaccine Gardasil, a mainline defense against cervical cancer. Based on a 2008 telephone survey, researchers found that three New England states boasted the highest vaccine rates--more than 50 percent--while Mississippi, Georgia and South Carolina mustered less than 20 percent.
