FDA jobs won't be farmed out
Some FDA staffers can breathe a sigh of relief: Their jobs won't be farmed out to the private sector, the agency says. The FDA has decided not to outsource a batch of 77 workers, but there are nine more cost-benefit studies ongoing that could lead to privatizing some FDA administrative functions.
Earlier this year, the agency mounted 13 studies to determine whether it could save money by outsourcing work done by some 320 FDA employees. With the result of four of those studies in, 77 workers have been told they'll keep their jobs. The remaining research is expected to be complete by January.
