James Cornelius - Bristol-Myers Squibb

Total Compensation: $25M

Details: Cornelius enjoyed a healthy salary increase of 7.1 percent in 2008, which took his base annual salary from $1.35 million to $1.5 million. The increase coincided with Cornelius' appointment as Chairman of the Board and recognized his expanded role and increased responsibilities. His stock and awards were up significantly from 2008, jumping $10.6 million from $1.6 million in 2007. The CEO also received a $4.48 million bonus.

Cornelius is required to use non-commercial aircraft for air travel and was provided a security car and driver for ground transportation for security reasons. His car and driver expenses totaled $69,346. BMS inked an aircraft time sharing agreement with Cornelius that enabled him to reimburse BMS for his personal use of company aircraft. He paid the company $47,715 for use of the company plane. Air travel dropped by half once Cornelius had to pay for it himself.
