Aetna and the Long Island Health Network Reach New Network Agreement

-- All LIHN hospitals and facilities will be participating for members in all Aetna plans --

UNIONDALE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aetna (NYSE: AET and the Long Island Health Network (LIHN), a clinically integrated joint venture of 10 hospitals located in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, today announced a new contract agreement that will enable Aetna members who receive care at any of the LIHN hospitals and facilities to continue to be covered at the in-network level of benefits. The new multi-year contract will be effective on January 1, 2011.

The new agreement applies to all Aetna health plan products including Student Health and Medicare. Hospitals included in the agreement are:

  • Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, East Patchogue, NY;
  • Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, West Islip, NY;
  • John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, Port Jefferson, NY;
  • Mercy Medical Center, Rockville Centre, NY;
  • South Nassau Communities Hospital, Oceanside, NY;
  • St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, Smithtown, NY;
  • St. Charles Hospital, Port Jefferson, NY;
  • St. Francis Hospital - The Heart Center, Roslyn, NY;
  • St. Joseph Hospital, Bethpage, NY; and
  • Winthrop-University Hospital, Mineola, NY.
