Zentiva has entered into an agreement with Wood Pharma Holding to sell its production plant in Hlohovec, Slovakia
Hlohovec, Slovakia - November 21, 2012 – Zentiva a.s., a Sanofi company, announced today that it has entered into agreement with Wood Pharma Holding a.s. to sell its Hlohovec production facility in Slovakia. According to the agreement Wood Pharma Holding will acquire production, packaging and distribution part of Zentiva business in respect of both Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Drug Products activities. The transfer of a part of business includes transfer of the production facilities, employees and selected trademarks. Zentiva and Wood Pharma Holding also entered into agreements about future co-operation, covering purchase of drug products and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients produced by Wood Pharma Holding in Hlohovec in the next five years. All contracts are subject to several conditions precedent and should become effective in the next months. The whole divestment process aims to bring stability and further opportunities to current employees as well as ensure availability of high quality affordable medicines, produced by the site. „We believe that our investments, long-time experience and our know-how will transform this production plant into a strong company. We consider the production plant in Hlohovec to be an extraordinarily and quality asset with potential for further development", said Ľubomír Šoltýs, Head of the investment company WOOD & Company.
This decision follows announcement from October 2011, when Zentiva shared its intention to explore strategic alternatives with respect to sustainable future of its Zentiva Hlohovec production facility in Slovakia.
