IDEXX follows positive earnings with acquisition of Animana

Shares of IDEXX Laboratories ($IDXX) rose nearly 5% to $141.67 last week following a string of good news. On Oct. 24, the diagnostics maker reported third-quarter net income of $52.1 million on sales of $383.5 million, handily beating analyst estimates. Sales in its companion animal division were up 13% over the same period a year ago, while its poultry, livestock, and dairy unit grew 14%. On Oct. 30, IDEXX added to its practice-management offerings by acquiring Netherlands-based Animana, which makes software for veterinary practices. The purchase price was not disclosed. Release
